Meet Our Dance Instructors


Jenn has been in the dance and gymnastics industry all of her adult life. She has attended various workshops, seminars, and dance classes throughout the country. She started teaching dance at age 18 for her mentor, Deborah Blumer. Blumer is the founder of Machol Dance & Gymnastics and Creation Dance Championships.

Jenn holds a Bachelors Degree in Business from Geneva College. She led the team at Machol Dance & Gymnastics on both the artistic and administrative sides. During the past 20+ years, her competitive dance teams have been recognized nationally. She has also been the Lead Adjudicator for Creation Dance Championships, touring throughout the United States to critique dance and gymnastics students on both a regional and national level. Jenn is very excited about the opportunity at Carol Leone and looks forward to working with your children! She believes that with our hard work and dedication, we can all rise to the next level of excellence!


Barry is originally from Martinsville, VA and specializes in the fields of tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. His 49 years of dancing has taken him all over the world, producing choreography for groups in several countries and continents. He has judged and taught master classes for almost every major dance competition in America and abroad. Barry has been seen performing on HBO, Showtime, and Showtime at the Apollo in NYC. He also danced in promotional video’s in Atlantic City & Las Vegas. There Barry worked with such stars as Diana Ross, the late Marvin Gaye, Janet Jackson, and the late Michael Jackson, just to name a few. He was also a choreographer for the NFL’s St. Louis Rams cheerleaders. Barry was featured on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew, Season 1, during the 25th Anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Thriller Album episode. Barry was the 3rd Vice Director for the AAU/Urban Dance League Board of Directors for the South Texas District (2008-10).


Bonnie has taught dance and gymnastics classes at Carol Leone for 39 years. Prior to that, she taught at the Martha Davies Studio in the South Hills of Pittsburgh where she studied dance and teachers training. Additionally, she has worked at Ketchum, MacLeod, and Grove, an advertising agency in Pittsburgh. She also worked at The Latent Image, a film production company based in Pittsburgh. The Latent Image is where she met her husband Bill, and they got married in 1972. Their daughter Heidi was born in 1978. Heidi was a dancer at Carol Leone and a member of the Lions Gymnastics team.


Originally from Moon Twp, PA, Casey began her dance training at the age of three. She specialized in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, and musical theatre. After high school, she continued to pursue her love of dance at Allegheny College. Casey received a Bachelors in Mathematics and a Minor in Dance and Movement Studies. While studying at Allegheny, Casey continued expanding her knowledge of dance in the styles of modern, contemporary, and ballroom. At the same time, Casey developed a love for choreographing and continues to hone that passion today, having personally choreographed many numbers throughout her college career. Casey has been training for over twenty years, and is happy to have returned to the studio that helped her to find her passion for dance so many years ago.


Jessica is originally from Derry, Pennsylvania.  From the time she a young girl, she was actively involved in dancing, cheerleading, and gymnastics.  While in high school, her passion for teaching students and choreography began when she was a cheerleading coach.  She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Medical Technology and Biology education.  At IUP, she was a member of IUP’s Concert Dance Company and was a student choreographer.  As Jessica began her career in secondary biology education, she continued to coach competitive cheer and dance.  During this time, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  It was also during this time she found a home with the Carol Leone Dance family, where she has been happily teaching for over 20 years.


Mara is a dance teacher and choreographer who specializes in Ballet, Point,
Modern/Contemporary, and Interpretive dance. In her early years, she began studying under Maurice and Andrea Sabatier’, Mario Melodia, and Patricia
Wilde of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. While attending classes at Point Park, she broadened her interest to Ballroom and Latin. Mara spent several years teaching for Arthur Murray Studios. Enjoying a wide variety of dance disciplines, she traveled with the dance troupe Ben Machowl, where story telling through movement was the focus. Mara’s had the pleasure of teaching for Machol Dance, Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, Carole Leone, Murrysville Learning Center, and Abundant Life Academy. She also judged numerous dance competitions across the country for Creation Dance Championships. Mara is grateful for all the artists, companies and studios she has worked with and is particularly thankful for her family. “I am a purposeful teacher with a passion to see students flourish and grow.”


Nicole is a dance teacher at Carol Leone Dance, Gymnastics, and Child Care and an executive assistant for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Her journey began training in local dance studios at an early age with a supportive family behind her in Pittsburgh, PA. The decision of continuing her education in the arts after high school was unquestionable. Nicole has an MBA in Sports, Arts, and Entertainment Management from Point Park University. She also has a BFA in Dance Performance from Kent State University. During her tenure at Kent State, she performed in both faculty and student led dance concerts. Nicole also was a member of the Kent State Dance Ensemble in the latter part of her college career, where she had the pleasure of performing in a professional dance concert with Verlezza Dance. Furthermore, she traveled to Tuscany, Italy with ProDanza Italia to study with dance instructors from across the globe. Nicole’s passion is and forever will be the art of dance. Her love to educate students of all ages in this beautiful art form grows each day!
